Chapter 14
"Who's All Going on the Tour?"
A few weeks passed; it was now February. Stephanie was sitting on the couch watching TV when Matt came up behind her and said, “What are you doing?” in a weird voice. Stephanie jumped, “GOD! Don’t do that!!” she laughed. “But it is fun. Anyway, the guys and I have to go to the studio. Wanna come?” he said. “Sure.” she said and turned off the TV. They went outside and got in the car. Matt drove off.
Meanwhile, Greg was going to ask Savannah if she wanted to come. As he was driving to the studio he called her cell. “Hello.” he heard her pick up. “Hey babe. We are all going to the studio, want me to swing by and pick you up?” Greg asked. “Yeah sure.” she replied. “Ok...see you in a few, and I have to tell you something special later.” he said. “Ok. See ya soon, bye!” she said as she hung up. ‘Wonder what he has to tell me?’ Savannah wondered to herself as she gathered up her things and went out to wait for Greg.
Jesse, Chris, Frankie and Ashley were already at the studio when Matt came in with Stephanie and Kayla, who they had picked up on the way. “Hey!” they all said exchanging hellos. Stephanie went and kissed Chris, “Hey hot stuff!” she said smiling at him. “Hey sweet thing!” Chris said and kissed her again. Just then Greg and Savannah came in. They all said hey and then the manager came in. Everyone sat down and got quiet and he said, “Ok. As you guys know we are about to go on tour.” “Yeah!” the guys yelled. The girls giggled. “A new girl group called Sweet Candy will be opening up for you on this tour.” the manager continued, “My daughter, niece and one of their friends will be coming along too.” “Oh crap, not them!” Chris whispered to Greg. “Yeah I know.” Greg whispered back. “Why, what’s wrong?” Steph whispered. “Tell ya in a second.” Chris replied. “So you guys start packing because we are leaving day after tomorrow.” the manager said and walked out but then stuck his head back in, “And you can each bring one guest.” he said then left. “All right one guest! I know who I’m bringing!” Chris yelled. “Who?” Steph asked. “You...if you can go.” he replied. “I don’t know. We are supposed to leave tomorrow.” Steph said sadly, “But maybe mom will let me.” “Good!” Chris said, “And the reason we were groaning a second ago is because his niece and daughter are the rudest, snobbiest brats that there are.” “And their friend is Chris’ ex girlfriend.” Greg added. Chris glared over at him. Greg said, “Oops.” “Oh...I see.” Stephanie said looking at Chris. “Yeah but she is just as bad as the other two, I would never ever go back with her. Plus, I got you!” he said smiling and kissed her on the cheek. “Oh ok! Well I’m pretty sure mom will let me go.” Stephanie said, “Let me ask Matt.” “Ok.” Chris replied.
“Matt!” Stephanie said as she walked over to him. “So you are gonna come! Yeah!” Matt was saying to Kayla then turned to Steph, “Oh hey Steph.” “Hey. Do you think mom will let me go?” she asked. “Yeah maybe, did Chris ask you?” Matt replied. “Yeah. Let’s see who is going.” Steph said. She asked who was going and most everyone was. Greg was bringing Savannah, Frankie was bringing Ashley, Matt was bringing Kayla, and Jesse was bringing his cousin Britney. Stephanie called her mom. “Hey mommy, I know we’re leaving tomorrow but I really wanna go on tour with Matt. Can I?” Steph asked over the phone. She was in the hall and everyone else was in the studio. “I don’t know, what about school?” her mom said. “I’m already in home school so I can just be tutored by Matt’s tutor.” “Well I guess you can, but we’ll miss you for three months right?” her mom asked. “Yeah, I’ll miss ya’ll but I will call every night!” Steph replied. “Ok...I love you...there will be grown-ups?” her mom said. “Yeah. Talk to aunt Sue she will tell you it is safe. I love you too.” Steph said. “OK. See you later. Bye. Love you.” her mom said. “Love you! Bye!” Stephanie said and they hung up.
Stephanie walked back in looking at the ground. Chris came up to her, “Can you go?” She looked up at him with puppy dog eyes and then she said, “YES!” as she threw her arms around him. “Yeah!!!” Chris said. Everyone was so excited and were about to leave to go pack and get ready for the tour. They said their good byes and went home.
The next day Stephanie’s mom and sister were about to leave. Stephanie hugged and kissed her mom so many times she couldn’t count! She hugged her sister. Steph’s mom gave her a cell phone so she could call her anytime. They saw the plane off and went back to the house.
“Ok I have most everything packed.” Stephanie said to Matt. “Ok...me too.” he replied. They had to take their bags to the studio that night and be up there at 4 a.m. the next morning. After they got back from taking the luggage it was about eight p.m. so they decided to hit the hay.
The next day Stephanie and Matt go up at 3 a.m. They go ready quickly but sluggishly. After they were ready they said their goodbyes and they went to pick up Kayla. They went and picked her up and then got to the studio. Everyone was outside and there were people loading the bus. Stephanie got out and went to find Chris. She saw him talking to Greg, Savannah and Ashley, and there was a girl trying to flirt with him but he was ignoring her. She went over to them. “Hey babe!” Chris said hugging her, “That is one of the snobs.” he whispered in her ear. “Oh ok.” she whispered back. “Hi you must be Stephanie!” the girl said as two other girls came up behind her. “Yeah hi nice to meet you!” Steph said holding out her hand. The girls just looked at her and rolled their eyes. “I’m Nikki and I‘m 15.” one girl said in a rude voice, “And this is my cousin Amy and our friend Lindsey, they are 16.” “Hi!” they said snobbishly. “So you guys go on tour with them a lot?” Steph asked trying to be nice. “Yes! And don’t even try to steal Chris!” Lindsey yelled. “Hey! She didn’t steal me, I asked her out! And besides, you and I have been over for six months!” Chris said. “Whatever.” they said and walked away. “Woah! They are snobs!” Ashley said. The guys agreed and then Jesse walked over with his cousin, “Hey girls this is my cousin Britney.” “Hi.” the four girls said together. “Hi.” Britney replied. All five girls started talking and introducing themselves. Then the girl group, who was over meeting the guys, walked over to them. “Hi! We’re the group that is touring with Dream Street.” the lead singer said to the girls. “Hi.” they all said. “I’m Wendy and I’m 16, and this is Kristy and Kim. They are 15.” Wendy introduced them. “Cool. What is your group’s name?” Stephanie asked. “Sweet Candy.” Kim replied. “Cool. Oh yeah never mind we knew that.” Savannah said as they all laughed. They were all talking and getting along. “Who are those three girls over there. They are being real mean.” Kristy said. “Yeah they are snobs and Lindsey wants Steph’s boyfriend.” Britney said. “Oh. Who’s your boyfriend?” Kim asked. “Chris.” Stephanie said. “Aw, cool. I think Jesse is cute.” Kim said. “Yeah. He is single. You should talk to him and get to know him.” Stephanie said. “Ha ha, ok.” Kim replied. They kept talking and were getting to be great friends. “Gosh I am so tired!” Savannah said with a yawn. “Yeah and it isn’t even light out here yet!” Kayla agreed. “And it is freezing!” Stephanie said. They all agreed. Then the guys walked over to them. “Did I hear someone say they were cold?” Chris asked Steph as he came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist; he kissed her cheek. “Yes. I swear it is below zero out here.” she replied as she leaned her head back on his shoulder. “Well just stay close, I’ll keep you warm.” Chris laughed. “Ok!” Steph giggled. “Jesse when can we get in the bus?” Britney asked. “I don’t know, I think we are about to.” he said as the manager was shushing everyone. “Ok! This sounds like we’re going an a field trip be we need to do role call.” he said. Everyone laughed. He called out the names, “Chris, Jesse, Matt, Greg, Frankie, Wendy, Ashley, Stephanie, Kim, Kristy, Britney, Kayla, Savannah, Nikki, Amy and Lindsey? Those are all the kids right?” he asked. They all said yeah.
Finally they all got on the bus and settled down. Some were talking and some were sleeping. They had to drive to Ohio for their first concert. They had a long drive ahead of them. Greg took Savannah to the back and they sat down. “What did you wanna tell me? Because I have to tell you something too.” Savannah said. “Ok-you first.” Greg said. “No you.” Savannah said. “Well I wanted to tell you...tell you that I...I love you.” Greg said blushing. “Oh...umm...well...I was gonna say...” Savannah started. “You don’t have to say it back, I just wanted to tell you how I feel.” Greg said and leaned in to kiss her but she turned away, “What’s wrong?” he asked. “I was gonna say I don’t think we should see each other anymore.” Savannah said sadly with a few tears falling from her cheeks. “Why?” Greg asked. “Because...well I’m just gonna be honest.” Savannah said. “Ok good.” Greg said. Savannah replied with, “I have feelings for someone else.” “Oh ok. Who?” Greg asked. “Frankie.” she replied. “Oh. Well if you feel this is the best thing I’ll support you. Can we still be friends?” Greg said. “Yeah of course.” she said and hugged him. “Good.” he said. Savannah got up and went back to the front of the bus and sat down. Greg was still in the back thinking. Savannah went over to talk to Stephanie who was playing tic-tac-toe with Chris. “No. That isn’t three in a row, you curved cheater.” Savannah heard Stephanie say to Chris. “So...” Chris laughed. “Ugh!” Stephanie said and punched him playfully. They started laughing and Savannah came up. “Hey! What’s up?” Chris asked her. “Hey.” Savannah said. “Girl something is up with you, I’m one of you best friends, you can tell me.” Stephanie said. “I’ll tell you. Oh and you can hear too Chris.” Savannah said. “Ok.” they both said. “Well...I broke up with Greg.” Savannah said. “Why?” they both asked. “Because I have feelings for Frankie.” she replied. “Oh. I see.” Stephanie said. “I should go talk to Greg.” Chris said as he got up. “Yeah.” Steph said and Chris went to talk to him. “I don’t want him to know. Or Ashley because she might get mad.” Savannah said. “Ok I won’t tell them and I’ll tell Chris not to either.” Stephanie said. “Ok...thanks.” Savannah said. “No problem.” Stephanie said as she hugged her friend.
“Hey man you ok?” Chris asked as he walked to where Greg was. “Yeah I guess.” he replied. “It will all pass over. And ya’ll are friends right?” Chris said. “Yeah.” Greg said, “I loved her--love her.” “Yeah. You can love her as a friend now.” Chris said. “Yeah, thanks man.” Greg said. “You’re welcome.” Chris said, “I’m gonna go back up here; are you?” “Yeah...in a minute.” Greg replied and Chris left.
As Chris was coming back he saw Stephanie talking to Britney, Ashley, Kayla, Savannah and the three members of Sweet Candy. He decided to let her have girl talk and he went to talk to the guys. He sat down and they started talking about what they needed to work on and stuff. Just then the three snobs came over to them. “Hey!” Lindsey said as she sat down on Chris’ lap. Nikki sat down on Matt’s lap. Chris and Matt were telling them to get up.
Meanwhile, the girls were talking and Steph saw what was going on. “Oh that girl did not just sit on my man.” Stephanie said as she was about to get up. Kayla grabbed her arm and said, “Wait. Let’s see if the guys make them get up first.” All the girls watched closely.
“Ok I asked you nicely Lindsey, GET UP!!” Chris yelled at her, “I have a girlfriend so lay off.” “Yeah same with me Nikki. Get up!” Matt said. “We don’t see them coming over here stopping us.” Nikki said laughing snobbishly. Lindsey agreed. “Well whatever, get off!” Chris said as he pushed her off. She didn’t fall but she stumbled to get her balance. “Fine! Come on Nikki.” she yelled. Nikki got up and the three girls walked away. “God I hate those girls!” Chris said as he got up. “I know!” the guys agreed. Kayla walked over to Matt and Stephanie got up to hug Chris. “I saw that hoe try to start something with you!” Stephanie said as she hugged Chris. “Yeah I know! I told her to get lost.” Chris said and kissed Stephanie. They sat down in a big chair in a corner and started making out.
